Description:Located on Cheadle's High Street (A521) at its junction with Watt Place, near the Church of St Giles the Abbot, this Grade II listed water fountain was posthumously gifted by Sarah and John Colclough Bourne in 1879. John had been a local doctor and surgeon with his home and practice at Daisy Bank House. He died in 1861 and his sister, Sarah, died in 1877 leaving a large amount of money to the town in order to provide medical assistance for the poor, named the Bourne Foundation.

The house in the background is The Manor, built in 1758 as the rectory. It remained so until 1982, when it was sold. By 2003 the building had become the Manor Restaurant.

The postcard was posted in Cheadle in 1905.
