Description:In 1793, Hugo Meynell purchased the Hoar Cross estate. He demolished the old manor house and built Hoar Cross Old Hall which he used as a hunting lodge. It was built around a small courtyard about half a mile away from where Hoar Cross Hall would later be situated. This postcard photograph shows the rear of the building.

At the time of this photograph part of Hoar Cross Old Hall was being used as the Home of the Good Shepherd, a home for orphaned boys. Other parts were used as accommodation for the families of domestic and outdoor staff working at Hoar Cross Hall.
