Description:On the left with the 1910 datestone in this postcard photograph is Morrall's Tobacconists and Hairdressers shop at 134, Kettlebrook Road. It still stands today (2022) but the shop front has gone and the building has been rendered. Some of the houses further down the street are largely unchanged. The A-board advertises Black Cat tobacco, a brand withdrawn before the 2nd World War. A sign advertising Capstan cigarettes can be seen over the doorway.

In 1939 Albert Morrall, master hairdresser, was living here with his two daughters, Dorothy and Elsie, who were ladies hairdressers. He gave notice of closure in 1941 citing depletion of staff due to the war. A similar notice dated 1942 was for another premises at 264, Main Road, Glascote.

The postcard was published by W. T. Bailey, Stationer, P.O. Box, Kettlebrook. The card also has 'Teesee Series' printed on it. Teesee was a sub-brand of H.H. Thompson, publishers of Coventry. Bailey appears to have commissioned the card to be printed by Thompson Publishing.
