Description:A postcard advertising the Brooms Hotel in Stone, showing the dining room, lounge and bar, as well as an external view. The reverse of the card includes information on the hotel's location, accommodation and facilities.

Originally built around 1800, the Brooms was the home of William Bewley Taylor in the early 19th century. From at least 1896 until 1947 it was the home of Clarke McIlroy and family; he was owner of McIlroy's department store at Miles Bank, Hanley. The house became the Brooms Hotel in the late 1950s and the name had changed to the Stone House Hotel by 1988. Around 2000-02 a large extension was added and the frontage was remodelled.
