Description:Five Ford Thames six-wheeler trucks belonging to Samuel Barlow Coal Co. Ltd. pictured at an unidentified colliery. the drivers are (from left to right): Jack Healy, Albert Taylor, Johnny Holmes, unknown, Alfred John 'Jackie' Wright.

Samuel Barlow was the son of a canal boatman and set himself up as an owner boatman carrying coal from the local Tamworth mines. In about 1870 he moved to Glascote near Tamworth. Samuel died in 1894 but the business continued to thrive after his death as specialists in shipping and moving coal in bulk.
