Description:Following the death of his father, Edward VII, a ceremony to proclaim George V as King took place on the front lawn of the Anglesey Hotel, Hednesford in May 1910. This postcard photograph shows the proclamation by Mr Jonathan Hunter, Chairman of Cannock Urban District Council.
The soldiers appear to have a mixture of South and North Staffordshire Regimental cap badges. A crowd stands on the balcony which has the badge of the Cyclists' Touring Club on its front. A gas lamp can be seen behind Mr Hunter's head.
