Description:The man in this postcard photograph is possibly Samson Blewitt standing in front of his farm house at Pye Green, Hednesford. Samson had been shot and seriously wounded by poachers in 1900 when he challenged them he pursued them and was threatened again but managed to get to Hednesford police station when he reported the incident. The poachers were subsequently arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm. If any one can confirm the identity of the place and man please contact us.

The reverse of the un-posted card is inscribed with a hand-written message:
"May you all in the year 19 one [word underlined] 3
Have Health & Wealth - In each degree
Sufficient for all requirements
and at the close of the year, may we meet again
Having played our Cards & won like men
To Rally, for King & Country -
The Farm, Hednesford 24-12-12".
