Date:December 1920

Description:A studio portrait of Rita Edna Whilton with a doll and pram. She was born in July 1911. The reverse of the postcard tells us that the card was addressed to a teacher as a Christmas and New Year greeting when Rita was 9 years old. The postcard is dated 25 December so the doll and pram are likely to be Christmas presents.

Rita's parents were Herbert and Hilda (nee Greenfield). At the time of Rita's birth they had been married one year and were living in Station Road, Hednesford. Herbert was a butcher and Herbert's father Frank Whilton had a butcher’s shop at 3, Cannock Road. In later life, Rita married Harold Shaw at St. Peter's Church, Hednesford in 1935.
