Description:The school was built in 1931. It was enlarged in 1948 with wooden buildings which had previously been part of Rawnsley Board School which can be seen near the horizon on the right. This view is from Rugeley Road and shows the back of the school, the playground being on the far side. Children can be seen in the covered walkway. The school is much enlarged today but the original core of the building seen here is still largely unchanged.

Cannock Wood Street stretches away on the right. The white level-crossing gate can be seen where the mineral railway line crossed the road towards Cannock Wood Colliery up on the left.

The card was posted in 1938 by Stanley & Winifred Davis of 7, Rugeley Road, a newsagents and general store which stood close to the school, to an address in Tettenhall. They had married the previous year and it seems they were living with his parents at the shop premises. By 1939 they had moved into 5, Rugeley Road.
