Description:A postcard view of Edge Hill on Mount Road, Stone, viewed from the south. Built in 1870, it was the home of Stone draper John Foden (1813-1887). He was a partner in the company of Foden and Brandon whose drapers shop was on High Street, Stone, on the site later occupied by the Midland Bank, later HSBC Bank and since 2016 'Bear' bistro and coffee bar. Following the death of John Foden's widow Alice in 1897 the house was put up for sale.

By 1901 the house had been purchased by William Emery Pickering (1968-1939) of Stafford solicitors Pickering & Pickering. His second wife Mabel Violet Pickering carried on living at Edge Hill until her death in June 1989 at the age of 91.
