Description:This view looks along Chapel Street towards Broad Street and Mount Street, Stafford.

On the left is the tower of the former Wesleyan Chapel which closed in 1985. Most of the building was demolished shortly afterwards, due to a major redevelopment, except for the chapel tower which today remains (September 2022) and is incorporated into the Guildhall Shopping Centre, Market Hall and overhead car park development, of which there is a part view next to the Chapel tower.

In the centre is 23 Mount Street, a Grade II listed building, currently used as offices and known as St. Bernard’s House, formerly the Stafford Catholic Club. It has been occupied by various organisations over the years. In the distance is the spire of Trinity Church, which stands on nearby Mount Street and was built in 1988 following the demolition of the Wesleyan Chapel on Chapel Street. Trinity Church is used by Methodist and United Reformed Church congregations. On the right is a part view of the rear of some of the shops on the Princes Street Precinct.

This photograph was taken by Stafford photographer Tony Boydon.
