Description:The Longcroft estate was purchased by the family of Mary Arden, mother of William Shakespeare, in 1575. It was rebuilt in the late 17th or early 18th century. In 1796 the Rev John Arden had the medieaval moat filled in and the front modernised. It was further altered in the late 19th century, including the construction of a new porch between the front wings.

During the Second World War the hall was requisitioned for military use and was used as a Home Guard training centre. After the war it fell into disrepair and was demolished in 1955.
