Description:This view looks along Chapel Street towards Bath Street, from the junction with Broad Street, Stafford.

On the left there is a sign stating ‘Bath Street Closed, no access to Earl Street’, this was due to a major redevelopment of the area. Also on the left there is a part view of a café and the rear of some of the shops on the Princes Street Precinct. In the centre the Noah’s Ark public house can be seen and rising above is the tower of St. Mary’s Church, soaring above the Church there is a large crane which was used during the building of the Guildhall Shopping Centre. On the right is the tower of the former Wesleyan Chapel which closed in 1985 and most of the building was demolished shortly afterwards, except for the chapel tower which today remains (September 2022) and is incorporated into the Guildhall Shopping Centre, Market Hall and overhead car park development of which there is a part view on the extreme right.

This photograph was taken by Stafford photographer Tony Boydon.
