Description:The medieval chapel in Amington was ruinous at the start of the 19th century. Pictured here is the new school building built in 1836 which incorporated the gable end and bell turret from the medieval building. The school was licensed for Sunday services once a month and a chancel was added in 1843. This lithograph print was drawn and published by Standidge & Co in about 1840.

This building was demolished and St. Editha's Church was rebuilt in 1864 by G.E. Street and contains a very impressive stained glass window by the Pre-Raphaelite Edward Burne-Jones.
