Description:The Dog and Doublet was originally named the Pack Horse Inn and was a coaching inn on the London to the north-west coach road. The inn is believed to have been named after a local murder, when the victim's dog dragged his blood stained doublet to the inn. The present building dates from 1905 - this photograph shows its predecessor. At the time of this photograph the landlord was T. Cooper.
