Description:Mrs Basil Johnson is pictured speaking at the opening of the Swynnerton Parish Church garden fete on Saturday 2 July, which was and held in the lovely grounds of Queenswood, by kind permission of Mr and Mrs S A Jones. If you recognise anyone else in the photograph, please contact us.
A highlight of the Fete was a children’s fancy dress parade, entries were both colourful and original. Sandra Acton, aged one, caused much amusement in her snowy white napkin, advertising a well-known washing powder. Mrs N Shelley and Mrs B Johnson were judges of the competition. Janet Hurst presented a bouquet to Mrs Johnson, and Mrs Shelley was presented with flowers by Michael Walker. Pupils of Yarnfield School performed a maypole dance, which was enjoyed by the many visitors, some of whom had never seen one before. The children were trained by Mrs G E Moseley.
