Description:Wheatly's Brick and Tile company works was established before the 1820s. The Springfield tilery main entrance was on Newcastle Road in the Springfield area of Stoke. Closed in 1982 and demolished soon afterwards, the works became the site of a retail park. This is one of a series of photographs taken of Wheatly's by a board member of the The Eureka Terracotta and Tile Company Ltd based in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia, taken on a visit to the United Kingdom in the 1950s.
