Description:Dressed for a day out is Maisie Stephens, 3rd housemaid, in the gardens at Shugborough.

Beatrice Maisie Stephens was born on 18 December 1915 at Caerffili. Her first job was at Penrice Castle when she was aged 16. She applied for a job at Shugborough in 1935 because her brother was working in Stafford. She stayed at Shugborough until the outbreak of war in 1939. After the war, in April 1945, she married Reginald Hughes in Newport, Glamorgan where she lived until her death in January 2007, aged 91.
