Description:Chief Fire Officer, Captain Alfred Ernest Haywood, is seated at the front of fire engine 'Evelyn', with his son Ernest driving beside him. The family dog, and probably the Brigade mascot, 'Old Don' can be seen sitting between them. The bell in front of Captain Haywood would be rung in the same way as an emergency siren is sounded on a fire engine today.
