Description:Stafford Fire Brigade pictured with the Mitchell Challenge Shield at Warwick Castle. They came first of eighteen entrants at the National Fire Brigades' Union Autumn Meeting at Warwick, winning the Midlands District Mitchell's Challenge Shield and prize money of £3.

Taking part in the Single-man Drill was Cpl Haywood; in the Two-man Drill, Cpl Haywood and Fireman Swingwood; and in the Four-man Drill, Cpl Haywood, Cpl Thorpe; Fireman Johnson and Fireman Swingwood. Alfred Ernest Haywood won the Single-man competition for eight consecutive years between 1906 and 1913.
