Description:The colourful plumes of this prize-winning bird at Stafford and District Cage Bird Society’s show held at the Noah’s Ark Inn, Stafford, on Saturday 15 November, won the admiration of eight year old Valerie Hodson. Behind Valerie is the Society’s Secretary, Mr G Allen, whilst the bird is shown by its owner, Mr T Porter.

Despite increased membership the number of entries at the show was 74, which was down on previous years. The standard of birds shown, however, was equally as good as in previous years. The best bird in the show, judged by Mr R P Perry, of Wolverhampton, a well-known national judge, was a green male budgerigar, shown by Mr F Cartwright. It was also judged best budgerigar in its section. A green male, owned by Mrs I Shelley, was judged best in the rollers’ section, and a green female, owned by Mr J H Gask, was judged best border. The Best British was a goldfinch, owned by Mr R C Ducie.

The show was organised by a committee comprising the Secretary Mr G Allen, Mr R C Ducie, Mr J H Gask, Mr A P Cotterell and Mr W Smith.
