Description:Pictured rehearsing for their big day are, left to right: Stella Frotman, aged 12 of Silkmore Crescent, Stafford, Barry Wright aged 14 of Milford Road, Walton, Adrienne Roxburgh, aged 14 of School Lane, Walton, and Brian Jervis, aged 14 of Lichfield Road, Stafford.

These four violinists were chosen to represent Stafford in the County Youth Orchestra’s first public performance at a Vaughan Williams’ Birthday Concert held in Wolverhampton on 15 October 1952. Miss Maude Smith, County Music Advisor said that children were drawn from all over the County and because of the large number of very good young players’ the selection had been difficult. It was the first public performance of the junior section of the orchestra and they played a work specially written by Vaughan Williams for players of varying standards.
