Description:Pictured at Hixon Flower Show are, from left to right, Mr S.J. Allsop, Miss Brenda Bates, Mrs G. Saunders and Mr A. Morgan. Mr Allsop is pointing out his prize-winning gladioli.

The show was held in the field next to the Memorial Hall, but showery weather meant that some would-be visitors stayed way. The show was opened by Mrs J.K. Brown. There were 246 exhibits from 26 exhibitors in the open section, and 115 in the local section from 15 exhibitors. As well as the flower show there were sideshows arranged about the field including bowling, 'kagle', darts, hoopla and a treasure hunt. In the evening a dance was held in the Memorial Hall
