Description:Workers, including 40 Stafford women on temporary contracts, sorting foreign parcels at the Post Office's sorting office depot on Newport Road, Stafford. between 13 December 1951 and 2nd January 1952 Stafford Post Office dealt with a total of 961,000 letters and cards. Over 350 temporary workers were recruited to deal with the extra post, around 70 of whom were recruited from nearby King Edward VI Grammar School to deliver letters and to collect from posting boxes.
