Date:1904 - 1910 (c.)

Description:This postcard view looks north-east along the Newport Road towards Stafford. Over the years the area has been known as Deans Hill and also sometimes as Castle Road.

On the left can be seen the garden boundary wall of the former Deans Hill House. This wall remains (June 2021) although it has been reduced in height. The nearer group houses on the right were built around 1904 on land acquired by the developer from the estate of the Hollies, which is nearer to Stafford and out of shot of the camera.

This is a "Shaw" Series postcard. It was franked on 1 March 1910 at Crewe Station and sent to an address in Chester.
