Description:View from the north, showing the porch. Designed by Edmund Kirby and funded by the then tenant of Haunton Hall, Lady Frances Mostyn, St. Michael and St. James’ Church was built in 1902, replacing a smaller church built in 1885.

19th century Roman Catholic worship in Haunton has its origins with Col. Charles Edward Mousley of Haunton Hall who had a Catholic chapel built at the Hall in 1848, designed by Charles Hansom. In 1904 the Hall became the Convent of St. Joseph of Bordeaux. In 1987 it became St. Joseph’s Convent School for Girls before moving to a smaller site in Haunton until its closure in 2016. Haunton Hall became a retirement home by 1989.
