Born in Burnley, Lancashire in 1854, William George John Flack began his clerical career as curate of All Saints' Church, Darlaston in 1883-92. In 1892 he became curate at Tipton before moving to St. Paul's Church, Wolverhampton in 1894. The following year he married Ada Armstrong at Charleston, near Halifax, Yorkshire. He was the first Vicar of the newly built St. Chad's Church in Wolverhampton from 1908 until his death on 3 May 1929.
