Description:A view of the Bath House from the west after excavation in 1967. Hales Roman Villa is sited to the east of Hales village. Foundations and floors were discovered and were re-buried after excavation.

An early 2nd century Romano-British villa and associated bath house on the site of an earlier settlement. The bath house was extended in the 3rd century and appears to have been modified as living accommodation during the 4th century.
In March and April 1926 Mr E.B. Hall, the landowner, arranged for excavations to be carried out by workmen. Further excavation by 15 senior boys from the Orme Boys School, Newcastle-under-Lyme took place between February and June 1927 under the direction of Mr Thomas Pape (Headmaster of Orme Boys School) and Mr H.W. Daltry, both of the North Staffordshire Field Club.

During the summers of 1966 and 1967 Keele & Newcastle Archaeological Society concentrated on excavating the bath house. Further excavations took place between 1970 and 1972.
