Description:The Land Settlement Association trade stand at the Royal Show of 1937, held at Wrottesley Park.
The Land Settlement Association was a government scheme set up in 1934 to re-settle unemployed workers from industrial areas and provide them with small-holdings consisting of a cottage, livestock and about 5 acres of land. After the Second World War the scheme was taken over by County Councils to give people a start in their farming careers.
The Royal Show was the country's most prestigious agricultural show and was first held in 1837. This was only the second time it was held in Staffordshire, the first being at Wolverhampton Race Course in 1871. The show was held for the last time in 2009, at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire.
