Description:This postcard view shows a parade passing John Biddle’s Stores in Brook Square, Rugeley. The decorations by the upper floor windows suggest that at the time this photograph was taken the town was celebrating the Proclamation of King George V on 11 May 1910. George V was King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, and Emperor of India, from 6 May 1910 until his death in 20 January 1936.

John Biddle's, which started business in 1850, was a high-class provisions, grocer and tallow chandlers shop, also an agent for W & A Gilbey Limited, wine and spirit merchants, and for Salt and Co.’s Burton ales and Guinness’s stout and for the Norwich Union Fire and Life offices. In later years the buildings were demolished, the site redeveloped and the area became pedestrianised.
