Description:This Armitage pictorial postcard shows the Grade I listed Church of St Nicholas in Mavesyn Ridware, which has a mediaeval north aisle and tower but the rest of the church was largely rebuilt in 1782. It is notable for the Mavesyn Chapel, which contains a large collection of monuments to the Mavesyn family, who were lords of the manor until 1403.

A note about this early postcard: due to the Postal Regulations at the time it was only possible to write a message on the photograph side of the postcard and in this case in the white space on the right and below the picture. The reverse of the card was only for the address. During late 1902 the Postal Regulations changed and it became possible to write a message on the same side of the card as the address.

This postcard was franked in Rugeley on 7 August 1903 and sent to an address near to Newport, Shropshire.
