Description:This postcard view shows a parade of Guides and school children passing the 17th century hexagonal butter cross in the Market Place and walking towards Bagot Street in Abbots Bromley. In the centre there is a ‘Green Bus Service’ Bus and on the extreme right a glimpse of the timber framed Goats Head Inn, built in the late 16th century.
The parade is thought to be connected with the nearby School of St. Mary & St. Anne, which was formed on the amalgamation of two girls schools in 1921, occupying Big House on the north side of High Street in Abbots Bromley. The Big House became known as St. Anne's House. In later years the school was known as Abbots Bromley School which closed in the summer of 2019.
