Description:A market has been held on Lichfield market square since the 12th century and this typical view of the market from the 1930s is pretty much unchanged today. On the far side of the square is the Samuel Johnson statue and, beyond it, the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum. The shops to the right of the picture include Frisby's shoe shop, Redingtons the tobacconist, and the Minster Cafe.
