This factory had an easy source of coal supplies from the Adderley Green and Mossfield Collieries. John Aynsley II was Mayor of Longton between 1886 and 1890 and was instrumental in raising funds to create the first public Park in the Potteries. Queen's Park, Longton was opened in 1887 to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria on land donated by The Duke of Sutherland. The Coyney Arms Pub (which closed in 1973) can be seen in the distance.
