Description:This building was originally the Cyples Colour Works: there is a tablet above the windows which reads "Longton Colour Works, 1906" with the initials HJC. HJC was Henry Jesse Cyples who was famous or being the agent for Dr Mockels liquid gold and silver. This site later became the offices of Shaw & Copestake Ltd. pottery works who produced fancy earthenware with the Sylvac trademark. They had factories nearby on Normacot Road and Chadwick Street.
