Description:A lady and her cats outside the well in the churchyard of St Chad's Church, Lichfield. The stone structure was erected in the 1830s and designed by James Rawson. The well was reputed to have been where the first Bishop of Lichfield, Chad, bathed in the spring waters and baptized converts to the Christian faith. The well was accessed by stone steps leading down to the water, but by the 1940s the waters had become contaminated and the structure was demolished in 1950, to be replaced by a wooden structure with open well.
