Description:This postcard view shows King Edward VII leaving Lichfield Cathedral by the Great West Door (main entrance) while two police officers keep watch. Although this postcard was published around 1901 or 1902 we believe it may show the King during his visit to Lichfield in 1894, when he was still Prince of Wales. In that year he visited Lichfield as part of celebrations of the Centenary of the Staffordshire Yeomanry on 29th and 30th May. As far as we know this was his only visit to the Cathedral.
This older image may have used for this postcard to celebrate the Coronation in 1902.
