Description:A postcard view of Primrose Cottage which at the time of this picture was also known as ‘G Williams, The County Fruit Stores’ on Mill Street, Stafford.

Dated 1610, this small, thatched building would have been a typical example of a seventeenth century Stafford cottage. Throughout the centuries it was known as Primrose Cottage and was only put to commercial use in the nineteenth century.

In later years it became Jackson’s County Fruit Stores, until it closed at the end of March 2018. It was reported in the Express and Star newspaper that Jackson’s County Fruit Stores had been run by members of the Jackson family since the 1950s. The grade II listed property dates back to 1610 and is called Primrose Cottage. It was placed on the market for £450,000.

This postcard was published by William Shaw, Burslem. It was franked on 3 March 1911 in Stafford and sent to an address in Church Aston, near Newport, Shropshire.
