Description:A postcard view of Tudor House at 77 High Street, Cheadle. Tudor House is a timber-framed building dating from 1558. In the panel on the right it is described as “Ye Olde House, Cheadle”. On the left is Allards' saddlers shop. In later years the ground floor of Tudor House had several changes of use.

This photograph was taken before restoration work began in 1907 and shows the building covered in stucco (plasterwork). During renovation oak beams were discovered and the stucco was removed to reveal all the original timbers to leave Tudor House as it remains today (June 2020).

This picture was taken by Bernard Lowndes who was a member of the Lowndes family of photographers who for several years were based at 19 High Street, Cheadle.
