Description:This pit, sited north of Kibblestone Road in Oulton, supplied gravel for road repair from the early 19th century. At the time of this photograph it was owned by William Blakeman, who also had a butcher's shop in Stone High Street.

This postcard was franked in Stone on 1 July 1907 and later in Milford. It was sent to an address in Brocton.
