Description:This photograph was taken on a road known as the Cumbers in Seighford. On the left is Margaret Lowe, second from left is Kath Taylor, the woman in the light coloured coat is Mrs Blanche Waterfall, the woman in the dark coloured coat is Mrs Hine, in the centre the man in a leather jacket and wearing a cap is John Lowe, the man bending over shovelling snow is George Taylor, and on the right is Fred Waterfall. The building in the background is the Beeches Farm.
The winter of 1946-1947 was very harsh and in late January 1947 there were several cold spells in the United Kingdom which brought large drifts of snow around the country. There was severe disruption of power for homes and industry along with major transport problems due to snow blocking roads and railways.
