Description:A postcard view of the Avenue Bridge which is number 10 on the Shropshire Union Canal. This bridge dates from around 1830 by Engineer, Thomas Telford and is the most ornamental canal bridge in Staffordshire. It carries the Avenue as it approaches Chillington Hall.

In this view a man wearing a top hat is gazing over the balustrade at the canal below (between the carriage and the telegraph pole) and there is a bicycle leaning against the opposite balustrade.
