Description:A detail showing a view of Tamworth Castle from a decorative map surveyed by William Wyatt for the Earl of Northampton shows the ‘liberty’ of Tamworth castle, an area outside the boundaries of a borough where free men had certain rights such as grazing animals. As well as a detailed plan of the castle and adjacent street, the map also includes some impressive heraldry.
