Description:This photograph is believed to show Old Penkridge Road, Cannock viewed from its junction with the traffic island, near the current Londis store and looking north. These buildings have since been replaced apart from the bungalows in the distance which are numbers 23 and 25, Old Penkridge Road.

A BP petrol sign belonging to Bond's Garage can be seen near the cars. On the right is a 'Halt At Major Road Ahead' sign with its unique shape. These signs were made obsolete in 1964 but it probably took a few years for them to be replaced with the new version.
