Description:The Mines Rescue Station building on Victoria Road, Hednesford. The Rescue Station was set up by the Cannock Chase Coal Owners Association in redundant gasworks buildings in 1913. Volunteer coal miners were trained in first aid and the use of breathing apparatus so that they could attend emergencies in nearby coal mines. This photograph shows the building after 1972, when the station left the Victoria Road site and moved nearby into the pithead baths at the closed Valley Colliery. The Hednesford Rescue Station finally closed in 1991.

The building has been demolished and the site is now (2019) covered by a Tesco supermarket.
