Description:Thomas Russell Infants School on Station Road, Barton-under-Needwood. Thomas Russell, a draper who died in 1593, left £50 in his will for a free school to be built in Barton-under-Needwood. The school survived into the 19th century but the old Tudor school building was demolished around 1884. In 1886 this new school was built, combining provision for boys, girls and infants. This became a council school in 1903 and eventually in 1957, became the Thomas Russell primary school.
