Description:The Eton style collars worn by most of the boys were probably provided by the photographer in order to make them look smarter! The teacher on the left is Mr T. Rylands Parton, who only a few years later became the headmaster of Cannock Grammar School and on the right is Mr G. Powis, the headmaster.
The school started up in the nave of the local parish church in 1874, before moving into this adjacent building. In 1934 a new wooden school building was built on the corner of Cannock Road and Church Street.
