Description:A postcard view of The Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone (a granddaughter of Queen Victoria) reviewing a Parade at the unveiling of Hednesford’s War Memorial on 9 November 1922.

The Memorial was built on land at the edge of Hednesford Hills donated by the Marquis of Anglesey and funded by subscription. Fundraising was temporarily hindered by the coal strike of 1921. The Memorial built of granite, Gate Piers (visible on the left) and Gates were supplied by Messrs W H Fraly & Sons of Birmingham. The Memorial was Grade 2 listed in 2007. The dead of both World Wars and the Korean War are commemorated.
