Description:A postcard view of Meece House at Cold Meece. This was an early 19th century brick built house built by John Astbury. The Astbury family remained there until the late 19th century, when it was acquired by Edward Wood of the Wood pottery family. His widow continued to live there until her death in 1939, at which point it was purchased by the Ministry of Defence as accommodation for senior management at R.O.F. Swynnerton. The Ministry of Defence sold it in 1958 and the house stood derelict for many years until it was demolished in 1998.

This postcard was published by E.J. Hurlstone of High Street, Eccleshall.
