Stafford Cricket Club was formed in 1864, but a club representing the town had been in existence at least by 1847. The Club first played at the Lammascotes but moved to a new ground at the Hough in 1890. This remained the Club's home until industrial development of the surrounding English Electric factory led to a move to a new ground at Riverway in 1984. A new pavilion was opened at Riverway in 2000.
